Medical Transcriptionist
Quality Medical Transcription requires detailed-oriented individuals that have the ability to understand physicians with a variety of speaking styles and accents. In addition transcriptionists need to be familiar with medical terminology and dictation equipment in order to be efficient. Apex requires every Transcriptionist complete an extensive training program prior to transcribing a physician's files. Each prospective Transcriptionist is screened at the beginning of the training program to assess their ability in deciphering different speaking styles and accents as well as their typing proficiency. This program helps Apex provide high quality medical transcription services and excellent turn around time.
Medical Transcription Process
- Physicians dictate into a digital recorder.
- Apex has software that saves the voice files and forwards them to our secure FTP server.
- Our Transcription team then accesses the FTP server remotely and downloads the voice files using an encrypted channel.
- The voice files are then decrypted and distributed to Medical Transcriptionists in our delivery centers who are typically assigned one to three physicians. Our transcriptionists listen to the voice files and transcribe the words into text. Each transcriptionist’s computer is equipped with a medical e-dictionary and software that allows them to rewind, fast forward, and slow-down audios to improve accuracy.
- After the files have been transcribed, a trained quality assurance specialist reviews the medical transcription for accuracy and corrects any issues. Once this first level of review is complete the medical transcription is uploaded to the secure FTP server.
- Our final level of review occurs at our home office in Charlotte, NC where a U.S. based proof reader reviews the files and makes any final corrections prior to delivery to the medical practice.
- Apex software then runs at the medical practice and downloads and prints the medical transcription and archives the documents.
- These tools coupled with our training and process make Apex the best choice for your medical transcription needs.
